The Short Version
The Dam Plumber cleans drains across Boulder City, Henderson, Las Vegas and northwest Arizona, from a single kitchen sink to the main line out to the street. We cable most drains, jet the ones that need more, and tell you straight what we found. You get the price up front, and it doesn't change once we start.
Drain Cleaning With a Cable Machine
Most drain calls get cabled. That's a cable machine, what a lot of people call a snake, run down the line to cut through whatever's stopping it up. Hair, grease, wipes, food, a kid's toy. It gets the water moving again, and a lot of the time that's all the job needs.
We don't just clear it and leave. We'll tell you what came back on the cable, because that tells you whether this was a one-time thing or a sign of something bigger down the line.
Sinks, tubs, showers and floor drains
Kitchen sinks, bathroom sinks, tubs, showers, laundry drains and commercial floor sinks. If one fixture is slow, it's usually a clog close to that fixture. See clogged drains for more on those.
Main lines
If every drain in the house is slow or the toilet gurgles when the washer drains, the problem is usually in the main. That's a different job, and we cover it on our clogged sewer line page.

When Drain Cleaning Needs More Than a Cable
A cable punches a hole through a clog. It doesn't always clean the pipe walls. Heavy grease, scale and roots can close back up in a few weeks. When that's what we're seeing, hydro jetting scours the line clean with high-pressure water from the jetter on our truck.
If we're not sure what's going on in there, we'll put a camera down the line first. A sewer camera inspection shows you the problem before you pay to fix it, so nobody's guessing.

Drain Cleaning for Older Homes and Cast-Iron Pipe
A lot of older homes still have cast-iron drains. Over the years the inside of that pipe rusts and builds up scale, so the opening gets smaller and smaller. Hard water doesn't help. Things snag on the rough spots, and you end up with the same clog again and again.
Sometimes a good cleaning or drain descaling buys that pipe years. Sometimes the pipe is cracked or rotted through, and cleaning it won't fix that. We'll tell you which one you've got. If it needs to be replaced, we dig it up and put in new pipe. We don't do lining or trenchless work.

How a Drain Cleaning Call Works
You call, and you'll usually get one of us. We come out, find out where the backup is, and give you a price before we start. If it turns out harder than it looked, the price is still the price.
You get options, not a sales pitch. Clear it and see how it does, jet it, or fix the pipe that keeps causing it. We'll tell you what we'd do if it was our house, and you pick. Nobody here is on commission, so we're not walking your house looking for extra work. We knock it out, run the water, and have you check that everything's good to go.
Drain backing up after hours? We run 24/7 emergency service. We give you the after-hours rate before we head out, and we'll tell you that before we head out.

Common Questions
Drain Cleaning FAQs
Straight answers to what people ask us most about drain cleaning.
What's the difference between cabling and hydro jetting?
Cabling runs a cable machine through the line to cut through the clog. Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to scour the whole inside of the pipe. Most clogs just need cabling. Grease, scale and roots that keep coming back are where jetting earns its keep.
How much does drain cleaning cost?
It depends on which drain and what's in it. We look at it and give you the price before we start, and that price doesn't change if the job gets harder.
Should I use a store-bought drain cleaner first?
We'd skip it. If it doesn't clear the clog, you've got a pipe full of chemicals sitting in it, and older pipe doesn't do well with that. Give us a call instead.
Can you come out at night for a backed-up drain?
Yes. We answer the phone 24/7. We give you the after-hours rate before we head out, and we aim to be there within the hour.
Do you warranty the work?
Yes. Workmanship is warrantied for one year in Nevada and two years in Arizona, per each state's rules.
