The Short Version
The Dam Plumber repairs and replaces main water lines, pressure-reducing valves and hot water recirculation pumps in Boulder City, Henderson, Las Vegas and northwest Arizona. We find the problem, give you your options and the price up front, and do the work with our own family crew. The price doesn't change once we start.
Main Water Line Repair From the Street to the House
Your main water line runs from the meter at the street to the house. The meter side usually belongs to the water company. The line from the meter to your house is usually yours. When it leaks, you'll often see a wet spot in the yard that never dries, water bubbling up through the asphalt or rock, or a water bill that jumps for no reason.
We find the leak, dig down to the line, and fix it. If one section is bad, we repair that section. If the whole line is shot, we replace it. We don't do trenchless or pipe lining. We dig it up and put in new pipe, and we'll be straight with you about what that involves before we start.
Not sure where the leak is? Our leak detection page covers how we track it down so we only dig where we have to.

Main Water Line Replacement for Homes and Rentals
Sometimes patching isn't worth it. Old lines that have leaked more than once tend to keep leaking. In that case we'll give you options: fix this leak and wait, replace part of the line, or replace the whole thing. We'll tell you what we'd do if it was our house, and you pick.
We once replaced the water line from the street to a fourplex. We kept the owner posted the whole way so she could keep her tenants updated, and we worked with her insurance company on the job. That's how we like to handle it when it's a bad day for somebody.
- Leak repair on the main line
- Partial and full main line replacement
- Lines to houses, rentals and multi-unit buildings
- Work up to the main supply and the vacuum breaker (sprinkler valves are a landscaper's job)

Pressure-Reducing Valves: Water Pressure Problems
A pressure-reducing valve, or PRV, sits on the main line and keeps the water pressure coming into the house at a safe level. When it fails, pressure can climb high enough to be hard on your faucets, toilets, water heater and the lines themselves. Sometimes it fails the other way and you get weak pressure everywhere.
Banging pipes, a toilet that keeps running, a water heater relief valve that drips, or a sudden drop in pressure can all point back to the PRV. We'll check your pressure and replace the valve if it's bad. If you also need a new main shut-off valve, it's usually right there and we can do both at once.

Hot Water Recirculation Pumps and How the Job Works
If you run the faucet for a minute or more waiting on hot water, the water heater is usually just far from that bathroom. A hot water recirculation pump keeps hot water moving through the lines so it gets there faster. We install and replace them. If the problem is the heater itself, see our water heater page.
However the job starts, it works the same way. You call, and during business hours you'll usually talk to one of us. We come out, tell you what's wrong, and give you the price up front. If the job gets harder once we're in the ground, the price is still the price.
Main line blew in the middle of the night? We answer 24/7. Emergency service is billed at an after-hours rate we give you on the phone, and we aim to be there within the hour.

Common Questions
Water Lines & Main Water Systems FAQs
Straight answers to what people ask us about main water lines and water pressure.
Who is responsible for the water line from the street?
Usually the water company owns the meter and the city side. The line from the meter to your house is usually yours. If you're not sure where the leak is, we'll find out.
Do you do trenchless water line replacement?
No. We dig it up and replace it. We'll explain what that means for your yard or driveway before we start, and you'll get the price up front.
How do I know if my pressure-reducing valve is bad?
Banging pipes, a dripping water heater relief valve, running toilets, or a sudden change in pressure are common signs. We can check your pressure and tell you if the valve is the problem.
Will the price change once you start?
No. You get an upfront price before we start, and if the job goes south on us, it's still the same price.
Do you warranty the work?
Yes. Workmanship is warrantied for one year in Nevada and two years in Arizona, per each state's rules.
