The Short Version

The Dam Plumber does hydro jetting for homes and businesses across Boulder City, Henderson, Las Vegas and northwest Arizona. The jetter rides on our truck and uses high-pressure water to scour grease, scale and roots off the inside of the pipe. We'll only recommend it when it's the right tool, and you get the price before we start.

What Hydro Jetting Does

A cable machine punches through a clog. That gets the water moving, but whatever's stuck to the pipe walls is still there, and it can close back up.

Hydro jetting sends a hose down the line with a nozzle that sprays high-pressure water in every direction. It scours the pipe from one end of the run to the other and flushes everything out. When it's done right, the pipe is about as open as it's going to get.

Before we start, we'll tell you whether we're cabling or jetting and what it costs, so there are no surprises when the job's done.

When Hydro Jetting Makes Sense

Not every clog needs a jetter. A lot of them are handled with regular drain cleaning. Jetting earns its keep when the same line keeps stopping up.

Roots

Jetting cleans roots out of the line, but it doesn't close the crack they came in through. If the pipe is broken, they'll be back. That's a sewer repair, and we'll tell you so.

  • Kitchen and restaurant lines coated in grease
  • Scale built up inside older drains
  • Roots that grow back after the line is cabled
  • Main lines that need a full cleaning, not just a hole punched through
  • Commercial floor drains and floor sinks

Hydro Jetting for Businesses and Storm Drains

Restaurants, shops and commercial buildings are where a jetter really pays off. Grease lines and floor drains build up fast, and a backup during business hours costs you money. We came out of commercial plumbing before we started The Dam Plumber, so this is familiar work.

We also clean out catch basins and storm drains for businesses and property owners. See storm drain cleaning for more.

Line backed up after hours? We answer the phone 24/7. Emergency service is billed at an after-hours rate we give you on the phone, and we'll tell you that before we head out.

Is Hydro Jetting Safe for Old Pipe?

Usually, yes. But if a pipe is already cracked, rotted through or collapsing, blasting water through it isn't a good idea. That's why we'll often put a camera down the line first when we're working with old cast iron or a line we haven't seen before.

If the pipe is sound, we jet it. If it's scaled up but still solid, descaling might be the better fit. If it's broken, we'll tell you it needs to be dug up and replaced. You get the options and what we'd do if it was our house, and you pick. Nobody here works on commission, so we're not selling you a jetting job you don't need.

Common Questions

Hydro Jetting FAQs

Straight answers to what people ask us most about hydro jetting.

Is hydro jetting better than snaking a drain?

It depends on the problem. Snaking, or cabling, is fine for most clogs. Jetting is for lines that keep clogging because the pipe walls are coated in grease, scale or roots.

Can hydro jetting damage my pipes?

Not sound pipe. If a line is already cracked or rotted, jetting can make it worse, so we'll camera it first when we're not sure.

Do you hydro jet commercial lines?

Yes. Grease lines, floor drains, main lines, and catch basins and storm drains too.

How much does hydro jetting cost?

We look at the line and give you the price before we start. If the job goes south on us, it's still the same price.

Do you warranty the work?

Yes. Workmanship is warrantied for one year in Nevada and two years in Arizona, per each state's rules.
