The Short Version
The Dam Plumber sells, installs and services water softeners in Boulder City, Henderson, Las Vegas and northwest Arizona. Our water out here is hard, and a softener takes the minerals out before they get into your pipes, fixtures and water heater. We'll tell you honestly if one is worth it for your house and give you the price up front.
Why People Out Here Put In a Water Softener
The water in Southern Nevada is hard. That just means it carries a lot of dissolved minerals. You see it as white spots on the shower glass, crust on the faucets, and soap that won't lather.
What you don't see is the same scale building up inside your water heater, your fixtures and the valves in your walls. Over time that wears things out faster than they should.
A water softener takes those minerals out at the point where water comes into the house, so everything after it gets softened water.
Is it worth it for your house?
Not always. If your budget is tight right now, there may be better places to put that money first. Boulder City has a lot of seniors, and we keep budgets in mind on every job. We'll give you the honest answer, not the one that sells a softener.

Water Softener Sales and Installation
We sell water softeners and we install them. One crew picks the unit, plumbs it into your main line, sets it up and shows you how it works.
Most softeners go in the garage near where the water comes into the house, often right next to the water heater. It needs a spot for the brine tank, a drain for the discharge, and a connection on the main line. We'll look at your setup and tell you where it makes the most sense.
We're a family crew out of Boulder City. We put softeners in all over Clark County, and on the Arizona side in Bullhead City, Kingman, Dolan Springs and Topock. Same price-up-front deal wherever you are.
- New water softener installs
- Replacing an old or dead softener

What a Water Softener Does for Your Water Heater
Hard water is tough on water heaters. Scale settles in the bottom of a tank and builds up inside a tankless unit. That's a lot of what you hear when a tank starts popping and rumbling.
A softener won't fix a tank that's already rusted through, but it can help a new one last. If we're already putting in a new water heater or a tankless water heater, we'll mention a softener as an option. We won't push it. You decide.
The same goes for the rest of the plumbing. Faucet cartridges, toilet fill valves and shower valves all last longer when they're not fighting scale. It's not a cure-all. It just takes one thing off the list of what wears your plumbing out.

How a Water Softener Job Works With Us
You call, and during business hours you'll usually talk to one of us. We come out, look at where the water comes in, and tell you what the install would take.
You get the price up front. If the job gets harder once we're into it, the price stays the same. We install it, run it, and make sure you're good to go before we leave.
Nobody here is on commission. Everybody's hourly. If your house doesn't really need a softener, we'll tell you that too. Veterans get 15% off, and Boulder City senior center members get a discount. See our coupons page.
