The Short Version

The Dam Plumber does sewer and drain camera inspections across Boulder City, Henderson, Las Vegas and northwest Arizona. We run a camera through the line and show you what we find, so the decision about what to do next is yours and it's based on what's actually in the pipe. You get the price before we start.

Why a Sewer Camera Inspection Comes First

Without a camera, everybody's guessing about what's going on underground. A camera takes the guessing out. We run it through the line from a cleanout, and you see on the screen what we see.

That matters most before a big job. If somebody tells you that you need a new sewer line, you should get to see why. And if the camera shows the pipe is fine and it was just a bad clog, that's good news, and we'll tell you so.

It helps with the price too. When we know exactly what's wrong and where it is, we can give you a real upfront price instead of a guess. That price holds, even if the job gets harder once we're in there.

What a Sewer Camera Inspection Can Find

Most sewer and drain problems show up plainly on camera.

Older homes with cast iron

Cast-iron drains rust from the inside, so the pipe can look fine from the outside and be in rough shape in there. Our blog post on why cast-iron drains fail covers what happens to it over time.

  • Roots growing in through cracks and joints
  • Cracked, broken or collapsed pipe
  • Rust and scale built up inside cast iron
  • Bellies or sags where waste sits in the line
  • Offset joints and broken fittings
  • Grease buildup and what's causing a clog

When to Get a Sewer Camera Inspection

You don't need one for every clog. A slow bathroom sink doesn't need a camera. But it's worth it when the same problem keeps coming back or you're about to spend real money.

  • The main line keeps backing up after it's been cleared
  • Roots come back every time the line is cleaned
  • Before hydro jetting old or fragile pipe
  • Before paying for a sewer repair or replacement
  • Sewage smell or soggy spots with no obvious cause

After the Sewer Camera Inspection: Your Options

Once we've seen the line, you get options, not an ultimatum. If it's a clog, we clear it with drain cleaning or hydro jetting. If it's scale in cast iron, descaling might buy that pipe more years. If it's broken, we dig it up and replace the bad section. We don't do lining or trenchless work.

We'll tell you what we'd do if it was our house. Boulder City has a lot of retirees and a lot of folks on a budget, and a full replacement isn't always what makes sense. Nobody here is on commission, so we're not going to push you toward the biggest job. You get the price up front, and it doesn't change once we start.

If your line is backed up right now, see clogged sewer lines. We'll get it flowing first and put the camera in after, so you can see what caused it.

Common Questions

Sewer Camera Inspection FAQs

Straight answers to what people ask us most about sewer camera inspections.

Do I get to see what the camera sees?

Yes. That's the point. We show you what's in the line so you can make the call on what to do.

Do I need a camera inspection for every clog?

No. Most one-off clogs just need to be cleared. A camera is worth it when the problem keeps coming back or before you pay for a repair.

What if the camera shows my sewer line is broken?

We'll give you options and a price. When it needs to be fixed, we dig it up and replace the bad section. We don't do trenchless or pipe lining.

How much does a sewer camera inspection cost?

You get the price before we start, and it doesn't change once we're in there.

Do you warranty the work?

Yes. Workmanship is warrantied for one year in Nevada and two years in Arizona, per each state's rules.
