The Short Version

The Dam Plumber repairs and installs toilets in Boulder City, Henderson, Las Vegas and northwest Arizona. Most toilet problems are a part, not a whole new toilet, and we'll tell you which one you've got. You get the price before we start, and it doesn't change if the job gets harder.

Toilet Repair for Running, Leaking and Clogged Toilets

Most toilet calls come down to a few parts: the flapper, the fill valve, the wax ring under the bowl, or the supply line at the wall. Those are cheap parts. We're not going to sell you a new toilet when a quick repair does the job.

Hard water is part of life out here, and the minerals build up on fill valves and flappers over time. That's a big reason toilets start running or filling slow.

Running toilets

If you hear the tank refill when nobody's used it, water is leaking past the flapper into the bowl. It's a small fix, and it stops you paying for water you never used.

Leaks at the base

Water around the base usually means the wax seal has failed, often because the toilet has been rocking. We pull the toilet, check what's underneath, and reset it on a new seal.

Clogs that keep coming back

One clog is a plunger job. A toilet that clogs every week is usually telling you something about the drain line. That's drain cleaning, and if every drain in the house is slow, it could be the main sewer line.

Toilet Installation and Replacement

Sometimes it's time. A cracked tank or bowl can't be patched, and an old toilet that needs three parts at once may not be worth fixing. We'll tell you straight which way we'd go if it was our house.

If you already picked out the toilet you want, that's fine. We'll put it in. If you want help choosing, we'll give you options at a few price points and you decide.

  • New toilets set on a new wax seal
  • Flange checked before the new toilet goes down
  • New supply line, and a new [shut-off valve](/water-shut-off-valves/) if the old one won't close
  • Taller toilets that are easier to sit down on and get up from

When the Toilet Problem Is Under the Floor

A toilet that won't stay tight to the floor, or keeps leaking no matter how many wax rings go under it, often has a broken flange or a bad drain underneath. In older homes that drain can be cast iron that's rusted out. We wrote about that in why cast iron drains fail in older homes.

If the drain is the problem, we cut out the bad section and put in new pipe. See our drain repair page for how that works. We'll show you what we found and give you the options before anything gets opened up.

How a Toilet Repair Call Works With Us

You call. We come out, look at the toilet, and tell you what's wrong in plain English. Then you get the price up front. If it turns out harder than it looked, the price is still the price.

We give you options at more than one price point. You'll get options, not a sales pitch, and nobody here is paid on commission. Senior center members and veterans get a discount, too. Check our coupons page.

Toilet overflowing and it won't stop? Turn the valve behind it to the right and call. We run 24/7 emergency service. We give you the after-hours rate on the phone before we head out.

Common Questions

Toilet Repair & Installation FAQs

What people ask us most about toilet repair and installation.

Should I repair or replace my toilet?

If it's the flapper, fill valve, wax seal or supply line, repair it. If the tank or bowl is cracked, replace it. We'll tell you which one it is and what we'd do if it was our house.

Will you install a toilet I already bought?

Yes. If you've got the toilet, we'll put it in. We'll check the flange and shut-off valve while we're there so the new one doesn't start out on a bad connection.

Why does my toilet keep running?

Usually water is leaking past the flapper, or the fill valve isn't shutting off. Minerals from hard water wear on both. It's a small repair.

Will the price change once you start?

No. You get an upfront price before we start, and if the job goes south on us, it's still the same price.

Do you warranty the work?

Yes. Workmanship is warrantied for one year in Nevada and two years in Arizona, per each state's rules.
