The Short Version

The Dam Plumber repairs and replaces water shut-off valves in Boulder City, Henderson, Las Vegas and northwest Arizona, from the main valve on the house to the little valves under your sinks and toilets. A shut-off that won't shut off is a problem you find out about at the worst time. We'll fix it with the price up front.

Main Water Shut-Off Valve Replacement

Your main shut-off is the valve that turns off water to the whole house. When a pipe bursts, it's the first thing you need. A lot of them haven't been touched in years, and when somebody finally goes to turn one, it's frozen, it drips, or it only closes part of the way.

We'll cut out the old valve and put in a new one that closes all the way. If the pressure-reducing valve next to it is failing too, we can replace them together while the water's already off.

If you don't know where your main shut-off is, ask us when we're out. We'll show you. It's one of the most useful things to know about your house.

We're a family crew out of Boulder City, and we replace shut-offs all over Clark County and in northwest Arizona. Plenty of our customers are seniors, and a stuck valve is hard on the hands. That's a good reason to have it swapped before there's an emergency.

Fixture Shut-Off Valves Under Sinks and Toilets

Every sink, toilet and washer should have its own shut-off, so you can work on one fixture without killing the water to the whole house. These small valves wear out too. They seize, drip at the stem, or won't turn at all.

We replace them one at a time or all at once. If we're already there for a toilet or a faucet, we'll check the shut-off under it and let you know if it's worth replacing. We won't push it.

If a lot of the valves in the house are old and you can't do them all right now, we'll tell you which ones matter most. Start with the main, then the water heater and the toilets. The rest can wait until it fits the budget.

Irrigation Supply Shut-Offs and Outdoor Valves

Outside, we work on the water supply up to the main supply and the vacuum breaker for your sprinklers. Past that, the sprinkler valves and lines are a landscaper's job. We don't do irrigation, and we'll tell you so up front.

One customer had us replace the shut-off on their irrigation supply, and we wrapped it with insulation while we were there. Outdoor valves and pipes take a beating from the sun and the occasional cold snap, so it's worth protecting them. See our pipe insulation page for more on that.

Smart Shut-Off Valves and How the Job Works

A smart shut-off goes on your main line and can turn the water off from your phone. Some can shut it off on their own when they see water running that shouldn't be. If you're gone a lot or worry about a leak while you're away, it's an option to think about. We'll give you the honest take on whether it's worth it for your house.

Whatever valve you need, the job works the same. You call, and during business hours you'll usually talk to one of us. We come out, tell you what's wrong, and give you the price up front. If it gets harder once we're into it, the price stays the same.

Valve broke and you can't stop the water? We answer 24/7. Emergency service is billed at an after-hours rate we give you on the phone, and we aim to be there within the hour.

A shut-off valve is one of those things you don't think about until you need it. Better to find out it's bad now than with water running across the floor.

Common Questions

Water Shut-Off Valves FAQs

Straight answers to what people ask us about water shut-off valves.

Where is my main water shut-off?

Usually where the main line comes into the house, often in the garage, on an outside wall, or near the water heater. If you can't find it, we'll show you when we're out.

My shut-off won't close all the way. Can it be fixed?

Usually the best fix is a new valve. Old valves that don't close fully tend to get worse. We'll replace it and make sure the new one shuts off completely.

Do you work on sprinkler valves?

No. We go up to the main supply and the vacuum breaker. Sprinkler valves and lines after that are a landscaper's job.

Will the price change once you start?

No. You get an upfront price before we start, and if the job goes south on us, it's still the same price.

Do you warranty the work?

Yes. Workmanship is warrantied for one year in Nevada and two years in Arizona, per each state's rules.
